Sitecore’s investment is going into SitecoreAI (formerly XM Cloud), its SaaS platform. For many XP estates it is the right destination — but not for all, and not always now. We are one of the few SitecoreAI certified partners in the UK, and we recommend starting with an Exposure Review before committing to a migration.

Every Sitecore XP implementation is bespoke, so the work involved in upgrading varies enormously. Reliable estimates need a proper look at your estate first. That is what the Sitecore Exposure Review is for.
In two weeks, for a fixed fee of £4,950, we confirm your version and patch level, map your security exposure, hosting dependencies and licence position, score the complexity of your customisations and integrations, and give you three costed options — upgrade in place, move to SitecoreAI, or re-platform — with a clear recommendation and a board-ready summary. The fee is credited in full against any follow-on work.

It depends on the volume of work, which can range from weeks to months — largely driven by how old your current version is and whether it was built to best practice in the first place. That variance is why we start every engagement with the fixed-fee Exposure Review: it tells you what you are dealing with before anyone commits to a budget.
Sitecore XP and XM have long been available on your own servers or as Platform as a Service. SitecoreAI (formerly XM Cloud) is SaaS only, and has been designed to make the transition as simple as possible. The Exposure Review evaluates the viability of moving your design, content and data, and the SitecoreAI readiness assessment goes into the detail.
If you are simply upgrading your Sitecore XP implementation to a newer XP version, your existing Sitecore license is still valid. It might be possible (depending how old your current version is) you might need to use additional servers which would exceed your current license agreement. We can help advise on this too.
