Sitecore Upgrade Specialists

Need to upgrade to a later version of Sitecore Experience Platform (XP)?

We can help you upgrade from version 7.x, 8.x, 9.x, 10.x to the latest version. We can collaborate with your current Sitecore partner, your in-house team or do it all for you – we can adapt to your needs.

As a long time Sitecore Platinum Partner, we have worked with scores of clients over the last 18 years on 100s of Sitecore XP implementations to help them maximise their investment in whatever version of Sitecore they have.

Our approach has won awards and helped us to build long term partnerships with clients, with some of those partnerships lasting for over 10 years with Sitecore. By working with so many clients over so many years this would in turn make us Sitecore upgrade specialists.

Why Upgrade Sitecore?

There are many reasons why we would recommend upgrading Sitecore to the latest version but first we would want to understand your business objectives. That way we can provide the best advice and make the best recommendations.

There are of course some fundamental technical reasons why upgrading is necessary such as:

  • Your current implementation is no longer supported by Sitecore (Sitecore versions typically go out of general support 2 years after release)
  • Your current version of Sitecore may not support the latest integrations to other parts of Sitecore’s portfolio and other 3rd party martech tools
  • Your current Sitecore XP does not feature or support latest AI features (Sitecore Stream)

What can you do next?

Of course, we would love to speak to you and understand more and then we can propose next steps.

Given the bespoke and unique nature of most Sitecore XP implementations, the viability and work involved can vary. Therefore, in order to make a more reliable estimation of the cost to upgrade, ideally, we need to look at your implementation in more detail and therefore offer the following fixed cost reviews:

  • Sitecore XP audit to review the implementation for best practice – this will highlight if your platform has been built in line with best practices and includes a 220 point check with a RAG status report
  • Sitecore XP audit and ‘smoke test’ upgrade to (from 9.x to 10.x) – this takes the audit process a stage further where we run a straightforward upgrade to the Sitecore application and expose many of the key issues that would occur when doing it ‘for real’. This provides a report that enables more reliable estimations of the work required and is what we would recommend before committing to timelines and budgets for an upgrade.
  • Sitecore XP Audit for readiness to go to Experience Manager Cloud (XMC) – this audit evaluates your current Sitecore XP implementation (On Premise or PaaS) to understand and highlight any key issues to move your website design, content and data to the latest Sitecore XM Cloud version
  • Sitecore Audit for readiness for Sitecore Stream – this audit evaluates you current platform implementation to be able to integrate Sitecore Stream. As one of the first Sitecore partners to get access to the Sitecore Stream toolset, we can not only advise on what upgrades might need be required but also how you might use it to improve your operational efficiency and content personalisation.

Sitecore Upgrades FAQs

The cost is determined by the volume of work and this can vary from weeks to months, largely depending how old your current version is and if your version was built to best practices in the first place. This variance is why we recommend an audit to explore what the starting point is.

Sitecore XP or XM has for along time been available to host on your own severs (on-premise or virtual machines) and by Platform as a Service (PaaS). The more recent Experience Manager Cloud (XMC) is solely cloud-based yet has been designed to enable as simple as possible transition from one platform to another. Our audit process is designed to evaluate the viability of migrating your website design, content and data to the latest Sitecore XM Cloud version.

If you are simply upgrading your Sitecore XP implementation to a newer XP version, your existing Sitecore license is still valid. It might be possible (depending how old your current version is) you might need to use additional servers which would exceed your current license agreement. We can help advise on this too.

We can collaborate with your current Sitecore partner, your in-house team or do it all for you. We are used to operating as part of a multi-agency team and can adapt to your needs.

No. We have worked on Sitecore implementations hosted on-premise in private data centres, on virtual machines (Microsoft Azure, Amazon Webservices, etc.) and across all continents. Even in places like China and Saudi Arabia where access is extremely prohibited.
