TikTok Search Goes Mainstream

TikTok has formally entered the search advertising market with Search Ads Campaigns. For the first time, marketers can select keywords, apply negatives, and optimise campaigns within the platform.

This development stands out because it runs counter to the broader industry trend. Google’s Performance Max and Meta’s Advantage+ have shifted advertisers toward black-box automation. TikTok, in contrast, is giving marketers back a level of control many assumed was gone for good.

Why This Shift Matters

TikTok is no longer just a content stream. It is a place where people actively look for information.

57% of TikTok users search monthly

25% initiate a search within 30 seconds of opening the app

When Search Ads run alongside In-Feed, conversions lift by 20% without higher CPAs (TikTok internal data)

This makes TikTok more than an entertainment platform. It is positioning itself as an intent channel, one where discovery and decision-making converge.

The Google Question

For more than two decades, Google has defined what search marketing means. But user behaviour is fragmenting. Google’s own data shows that nearly 40% of Gen Z use TikTok or Instagram for discovery instead of Google.

TikTok is now shaping this shift into a structured ad product. The difference lies in format: where Google search is text-led, TikTok requires creative that convincingly acts as the answer. For marketers, this reframes the task from keyword matching to creative alignment with intent.

Early Performance Indicators

Initial case studies highlight the potential for efficiency:

Glossier: +188% conversion efficiency with high-intent queries

American Eagle: ROAS doubled; CPA nearly halved when adding search to In-Feed

Eventbrite: CTR up 66%; CPA down by one-third targeting local activity searches

While TikTok is the source of these results, the trend is clear: search advertising inside social platforms can deliver measurable business outcomes.

Strategic Implications

TikTok’s move reflects three larger shifts:

Marketer Control: While others reduce transparency, TikTok is giving levers back.

Discovery Meets Intent: Social platforms are no longer purely awareness-driven; they now capture demand.

Creative as the Answer: Success requires video to function as a direct response to a search query, a new kind of search dynamic.

For brands, the challenge is to adapt strategy without assuming that tactics from Google or Meta can simply be transplanted. This is a different model of search.

Key Takeaway

TikTok’s launch of Search Ads is more than an incremental feature. It represents the convergence of discovery and intent inside social platforms, and the most credible challenge yet to Google’s dominance in search behaviour.

For marketers, the opportunity lies not in copying search tactics from other platforms, but in rethinking how intent is captured when the format is video-first.

Agency Insight

Search is fragmenting, and the rules of engagement are shifting quickly. Understanding where intent originates, and how best to meet it, requires a nuanced strategy.

If you want to explore what TikTok’s entry into search means for your category, Remarkable is already working with clients at the centre of these changes. Let’s discuss how to apply this perspective to your brand.

The way users interact with digital experiences is undergoing a profound transformation. The rise of AI-powered interfaces, ambient computing, and conversational design is pushing us towards a new paradigm: the singular interface. This isn’t just a design trend, it’s a fundamental redefinition of how experience is delivered, discovered, and consumed.

The singular interface refers to a unified, intelligent layer that sits above traditional navigation and delivers relevance without friction. It’s the shift from browsing to asking, from menus to moments. Users increasingly expect to ask a question and receive an instant, context-aware response whether through a chatbot, voice assistant, or AI-enhanced search result.

This transformation is already underway. Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) now delivers curated answers and product recommendations directly within the search result. Users can complete purchases without ever visiting a brand’s website. This is the rise of zero-click commerce and it’s redefining the rules of engagement.

The Brand Challenge: Visibility and Control

For brands, this shift presents a significant challenge. If the customer never reaches your website, how do you maintain control over the experience? How do you preserve your brand voice, values, and differentiation?

The answer lies in designing experiences that are not only discoverable by AI, but also structured to be delivered through third-party interfaces. This means embracing structured content, schema markup, and knowledge graphs. It means creating brand assets that can be surfaced in voice, visual, and conversational formats and ensuring consistency across walled gardens like Google, Meta, and Amazon.

This is where SEO and GEO (Answer Engine Optimisation) become critical. Traditional SEO focused on ranking in search results; GEO goes further, ensuring your brand is the answer in AI-generated summaries and zero-click environments. Structuring content and metadata for ingestion by large language models (LLMs) and answer engines is now essential for visibility. Without it, branded queries may no longer surface owned content, and product searches may return competitor results.

Designing for Ambient Intelligence

Ambient intelligence is about meeting users where they are – in the moment, on the device, and in the format they prefer. It’s about creating experiences that are:

Conversational: Interfaces like ChatGPT and SGE are becoming the default way users interact with digital services. Brands must be ready to respond in natural language, with context-aware answers.

Visual and Verbal: While voice interfaces are growing, users still want visual confirmation. They want to see options, compare results, and make informed decisions all within a single screen.

Composable: Experiences must be modular and API-ready, so they can be delivered across platforms, devices, and channels.

This requires a new approach to design systems. Brands must build systems that support consistency and scalability across fragmented touchpoints. They must define clear digital brand rules, reusable components, and system-level guardrails – not just for websites, but for social platforms, shopping results, and voice interfaces.

As Alex Lee, SVP of Experience, noted, “You’re building out your design system for all the different touchpoints, not just for a website, but for Instagram, Facebook, shopping results, and voice.” That’s a huge shift in how we think about brand governance and experience design.

Personalisation at Scale

Another key theme is hyper-personalisation. Static, broad-brush experiences no longer cut it. Users expect content, offers, and interactions tailored to their individual needs – in real time.

This isn’t just about marketing automation, it’s about sensing signals, anticipating needs, and orchestrating personalised journeys across channels. Companies using AI-driven personalisation have seen conversion rates increase by 20-30% and profits improve by up to 15%.

To deliver this level of personalisation, brands must unify their customer data, enrich profiles, and activate insights in real time. They must move from persona-based marketing to predictive, 1:1 engagement at scale. This means adapting experiences based on in-session behaviour and historical patterns, and orchestrating individualised journeys across channels and moments.

The Experience Behind the Experience

It’s not just the end-user experience that’s changing, it’s the experience of creating it. As new interfaces emerge, UX/UI will be a growth area. Designers, developers, marketers, and strategists must be empowered with the tools, data, and autonomy to innovate.

But there’s a tension here. Design has become increasingly formalised, with tools like Figma and AI-generated layouts offering speed and efficiency. While this standardisation can be beneficial, it also risks homogenising the web. Everything starts to look the same and that’s a problem for brands trying to stand out.

Designers must be the “fly in the ointment”, the ones who inject personality, disruption, and originality into increasingly standardised systems. They must challenge conventions, explore new formats, and create experiences that are not only functional but memorable.

As Alex Lee put it, “AI can tell me what the thing is now and give me other people’s opinions of the future, but it can’t give me the future – I have to invent the future.” That’s the role of the designer, to imagine what’s next and bring it to life.

Brand Experience Beyond the Real Estate

One of the most profound implications of the singular interface is the dilution of brand real estate. If 50% of your audience never visits your website, how do you maintain brand equity?

Brands must create an API to their user experience, one that can be delivered in someone else’s interface in a way that’s still unique and has their flavour. This requires a new level of interoperability, standardisation, and control.

Solutions like Feedonomics and other product syndication platforms are beginning to address this, allowing brands to control how their products appear across marketplaces and social platforms. But the challenge remains: how do you maintain brand consistency, relevance, and emotional resonance when your experience is fragmented across dozens of channels?

This is where structured content and metadata become essential. Brands must build authoritative, structured knowledge graphs tied to their identity, and create first-party content that can be “quoted” by machines, not just humans. Embedding brand relevance in zero-click environments like SGE and LLM responses is no longer optional – it’s the new baseline for digital visibility.

Continuous Optimisation and Measurement

In this new landscape, launching a digital experience is just the beginning. Continuous optimisation is key. Brands must measure and refine experiences based on real-time data, behavioural insights, and performance metrics.

This includes conversion rate optimisation, A/B testing, and performance dashboards that track engagement, retention, and ROI. Remarkable’s approach integrates analytics and AI to personalise content and refine customer journeys in real time, ensuring that every experience is not only beautiful but effective.

Conclusion: Experience as a Service

In the age of the singular interface, experience becomes a service – ambient, intelligent, and deeply human. Brands must be ready to meet users in these moments with relevance, clarity, and trust.

This is the future of experience: not what you build, but what your customer asks for and how well you answer.

As generative AI reshapes how people search, browse, and buy, ChatGPT’s new shopping interface is positioning itself as a potentially exciting new ecommerce channel, presenting product cards, prices, reviews, and purchase links right inside the chat.

We should be clear here, however. This is very early in its lifecycle. While the functionality is impressive, the behavioural shift required for consumers to shop through LLMs (Large Language Models) like ChatGPT or AI-powered search like Perplexity is significant. For most users, searching on Google or browsing Amazon is deeply embedded. LLM-based shopping is still experimental for the mainstream.

Meanwhile, Google remains the dominant force in ecommerce discovery. In 2024, Google processed over 5 trillion searches, a 21% YoY increase, while ChatGPT handled around 37.5 million ‘search’ style queries per day. Google’s AI-powered shopping experiences (via Search, Shopping, and Merchant Centre) continue to drive the lion’s share of buyer intent and conversions.

ChatGPT Shopping is one to watch and prepare for, but it’s a complement to, not a replacement for, Google’s shopping ecosystem.

Much like the learnings from our recent exploration of the impact of AI on Search in Travel & Hospitality, explored in our webinar with Lalit Gupta from Google, the impact of AI on search tools and the changes in user behaviour need to be considered together, before going all-in optimising specifically and solely for the ‘shiney new’ functionality. (You can watch the full webinar here).

In this article, we’ll explore the new ChatGPT Shopping experience and how brands can get themselves prepared for the shift.

1. What Does the New ChatGPT Shopping Experience Look Like?

When users enter purchase-intent queries such as “where to buy packed lunch sandwich bags” or “best wireless earbuds under £100,” ChatGPT may now respond with a visual shopping carousel, much like Google Shopping or a digital storefront.

Each result typically includes:

A product image

Name and key attributes

Price (usually from the first listed seller)

Star ratings (aggregated)

A “Visit site” button to complete the purchase

Clicking a product opens a dedicated product detail card, sometimes with multiple retailers and price comparison info, resembling a price aggregator like Google Shopping or Kelkoo.

So far, these results appear mainly for users in the US, but OpenAI has begun rolling them out more broadly across Free, Plus, Pro, and even logged-out users, starting with categories like:

Fashion

Beauty

Home goods

Consumer electronics

As you can see from the images below, in the UK results are a little more basic for the query, but still functional.

Meanwhile, a timely search for a frozen drinks maker during hotter weather here in the UK did trigger the new, richer shopping experience:

More verticals are expected to follow as OpenAI expands product indexing capabilities and direct merchant feeds.

2. How Are Product Results Selected by ChatGPT?

ChatGPT’s shopping suggestions are not pulled from a single source or algorithm. Instead, product visibility depends on a blend of:

User Intent & Context
The model interprets signals from the conversation, previous prompts, and user preferences.

Product Metadata & Reviews
Data from third-party sources (most notably Google Merchant feeds) including titles, pricing, descriptions, availability, and customer sentiment.

Model Reasoning
ChatGPT often surfaces suggestions before conducting a live search, using training data and conversational logic.

Safety Filters
Products must meet OpenAI’s internal safety and suitability criteria. This ensures harmful or misleading listings are excluded.

Depending on the user’s input, ChatGPT may prioritise certain factors, like affordability, popularity, or brand familiarity, over others.

3. How ChatGPT Processes Product Information

To streamline the experience for users, ChatGPT simplifies and summarises product data across several areas:

Product Titles & Descriptions

Often rewritten for clarity. Merchants using inconsistent or overly technical product names may find theirs rephrased for easier comparison.

Labels

ChatGPT may apply dynamic tags like:

“Budget-friendly”

“Best rated”

“Most popular”

These are AI-generated and not verified by OpenAI or based on any formal ranking. Sound familiar? This is quite a common behaviour for things like RSA ads in Google, where Headlines are auto-generated using the user’s search query.

Reviews & Ratings

Summaries are generated from aggregated public reviews across multiple sources.

Star ratings and review counts come from third-party providers.

Individual review accuracy is not guaranteed and should be cross-checked on source websites.

Pricing

Price shown is typically from the first listed seller, not necessarily the lowest.

Shipping, taxes, and real-time availability may lag behind actual product pages.

Price updates can be delayed depending on the refresh rate of the data source.

4. How to Make Your Products Discoverable

Success in ChatGPT Shopping starts with making sure your products can be found, crawled, and interpreted accurately. Here’s how:

1. Unblock the OpenAI Search Crawler

ChatGPT uses OAI-SearchBot to crawl websites. If your site blocks this crawler, your products won’t be indexed.

Update your robots.txt file to allow it:

User-agent: OAI-SearchBot

Disallow:

This makes your product pages discoverable and helps AI-driven queries find your listings.

Track performance: ChatGPT-origin traffic can be tracked in analytics platforms using the UTM parameter utm_source=chatgpt.com.

2. Register for Feed Submission Access

OpenAI is working on a direct product feed submission system—enabling merchants to upload their catalogue data directly.

You can actually join the interest list here.

Getting early access could position your brand for first-mover advantage.

3. Optimise Your Google Merchant Feed

Despite OpenAI’s partnership with Microsoft, testing shows that ChatGPT Shopping is currently pulling data from Google Merchant feeds—not Microsoft’s.

Prioritise feed quality:

Unique and keyword-targeted product titles

Informative descriptions with benefit-led copy

Clean GTIN/MPN data

Accurate pricing and stock availability

Proper categorisation using Google’s product taxonomy

This increases your chances of visibility across Google, ChatGPT, and other emerging AI platforms.

4. Strengthen Your On-Page SEO & Metadata

Ensure your product pages are structured and optimised for both traditional search and AI indexing:

Unique, clear <title> and <meta description> tags

Use schema.org product markup

Clean, human-readable URLs

Logical HTML heading structure (one H1, then nested H2/H3 as needed)

Check your markup with Google’s Rich Results Test.

5. Tracking Traffic and Sales from ChatGPT & Other AI Engines

To monitor performance, you’ll want to filter for AI-generated traffic in your analytics setup.

In Google Analytics 4, use this source regex to capture traffic from popular AI search and assistant platforms:

^.*ai|.*\.openai.*|.*copilot.*|.*chatgpt.*|.*gemini.*|.*gpt.*|.*neeva.*|.*writesonic.*|.*nimble.*|.*outrider.*|.*perplexity.*|.*google.*bard.*|.*bard.*google.*|.*bard.*|.*edgeservices.*|.*astastic.*|.*copy.ai.*|.*bnngpt.*|.*gemini.*google.*$

This allows you to:

Attribute revenue and conversions from AI-assisted searches

Track product-level engagement from ChatGPT and similar platforms

Monitor performance over time as adoption grows

6. What About Ads?

Currently, there are no paid ad placements within ChatGPT Shopping, and OpenAI does not charge commission on referrals.

However, this is expected to change. The development of a feed upload feature and growing merchant interest strongly suggests that monetisation and advertising models are on the horizon.

Brands optimising early will be better positioned for:

Beta advertising programs

Preferential product visibility

Early access to feed tools

Remarkable’s ChatGPT Shopping Checklist

Unblock OpenAI crawler (OAI-SearchBot)

Register interest for feed submissions

Optimise your Google Merchant feed

Improve on-page SEO + schema

Track AI traffic in GA4

Stay informed – ads are coming

AI is Rising, But Google Still Reigns

Amid all the noise that “AI search is killing Google”, the reality is far more grounded:

Google processed 14 billion searches per day in 2024

ChatGPT processed just 0.25% of that volume

Google’s search volume grew by 21% YoY

Its market share remains at a staggering 93.57%

So what’s the real story? AI search is exciting, but it’s additive, not dominant. The smart play is not to abandon your SEO or Google Shopping efforts. Instead, focus on building a blended strategy that futureproofs your brand across both traditional and AI-powered search experiences.

The question isn’t “AI vs Google”, it’s “How do we win in both?”

BigCommerce is a leading ecommerce platform, supporting over 60,000 businesses worldwide with its robust suite of tools and scalable solutions. But how much does BigCommerce cost? With global ecommerce sales projected to reach $6.4 trillion by 2024, choosing the right platform is crucial for businesses aiming to capture a share of this lucrative market. BigCommerce stands out with its versatile pricing plans, catering to businesses of all sizes, from startups to large enterprises. To understand the costs associated with BigCommerce, brands need to grasp pricing tiers and the value each plan provides.

How Much Does BigCommerce Cost

How much does BigCommerce cost is one of the first questions most businesses ask. With multiple tiers and add ons available, the cost of BigCommerce varies depending on the businesses requirements. Pricing tiers include:

Essential and Enhanced Ecommerce Plans: For new and small businesses, the foundational plan starts at a competitive price point, providing the essential tools needed to launch and manage an online store effectively. As your business expands, enhanced plans are available that include advanced features designed to support customer retention and optimise the shopping experience.

High-Volume and Enterprise Solutions: Larger businesses with significant sales volumes will find value in more comprehensive plans that offer advanced features like custom SSL and sophisticated product filtering. The top-tier Enterprise Plan is customised to fit the intricate requirements of large-scale operations, featuring unlimited API calls for extensive integrations and priority support to ensure seamless operation.

Bespoke Solutions and Additional Costs: Beyond standard plans, BigCommerce caters to businesses requiring tailored solutions with its Enterprise offerings. It’s crucial to consider additional costs that may arise from transaction fees, app integrations, or custom development, as these can affect the overall investment in your ecommerce platform.

It’s also important to consider additional costs, such as transaction fees, app integrations, and potential custom development work. These factors can influence the overall cost, making it essential for businesses to thoroughly evaluate their requirements against the available plans.

By understanding the detailed breakdown of each pricing tier and potential extra costs, businesses can accurately determine how much does BigCommerce will cost and select the plan that best aligns with their operational needs and growth objectives.

BigCommerce Pricing Plans – Built for Scalability

When looking up ‘how much does BigCommerce cost’, it’s essential to understand the platform’s tiered pricing structure designed to cater to various business needs and stages of growth. BigCommerce offers several plans, each tailored to provide a specific set of features and benefits, ensuring that businesses of all sizes can find a suitable option.

As your business evolves, so can your subscription, with options ranging from basic functionalities for new startups to advanced features for large enterprises. The exact cost will vary depending on the specific tools and capabilities your business requires.

For instance, a business just starting out may opt for a plan that focuses on essential ecommerce features, while a well-established company might need a more comprehensive solution with enhanced analytics and customization options. This flexible pricing ensures that you only pay for what is necessary at each stage of your business growth, keeping the overall costs aligned with your operational needs and budget.

BigCommerce Custom Pricing for Large Enterprises

BigCommerce pricing offers custom plans for businesses with extensive needs and high transaction volumes, providing a tailored solution that aligns with their unique operational requirements and strategic goals. This flexibility goes beyond the standard plans and ensures that enterprises can optimise their ecommerce operations effectively. When asking, how much does BigCommerce cost, it’s important to consider the various factors that influence custom pricing:

Sales Volume: The cost of custom pricing is often influenced by the business’s sales volume. Higher sales volumes may attract lower transaction fees or additional support services, making it cost-effective for large enterprises to manage their transactions.

Customisation Needs: Enterprises often require bespoke features and integrations. Custom pricing accommodates these needs, whether it involves integrating with legacy systems, implementing advanced product options, or developing unique customer experiences. This ensures that the platform can be tailored to fit the specific demands of the business.

Advanced Analytics and Reporting: Large businesses need comprehensive data insights to drive decision-making. BigCommerce’s custom pricing can include advanced analytics tools, helping businesses track performance metrics and optimise operations. This level of insight is crucial for maintaining competitive advantage and operational efficiency.

Enhanced Support and Service Level Agreements (SLAs): Custom pricing packages typically offer enhanced support, including dedicated account managers, priority response times, and bespoke SLAs. These elements ensure peak performance and quick issue resolution, providing enterprises with the reliability they need.

Global Commerce Capabilities: For enterprises operating in multiple regions, custom pricing can cover multi-currency support, local payment gateways, and compliance with international regulations. This global commerce capability ensures that businesses can seamlessly manage their international operations.

By offering these tailored solutions, BigCommerce enables large enterprises to leverage their ecommerce platform to its fullest potential, ensuring that their unique needs and goals are met efficiently and effectively. So, when considering how much does BigCommerce cost remember that custom pricing is designed to provide the best value based on your specific business needs and circumstances.

Evaluating BigCommerce’s ROI

When assessing how much BigCommerce costs, it’s vital to consider the return on investment (ROI). The platform’s cost should be weighed against the benefits it brings to the business, such as increased sales, improved customer satisfaction, and enhanced operational efficiency.

BigCommerce offers a range of features designed to drive ecommerce success. For instance, the abandoned cart recovery tool available in the Plus and higher plans can significantly boost sales by recovering lost revenue. Similarly, the platform’s robust SEO tools help attract organic traffic, while advanced analytics provide insights into customer behaviour, enabling businesses to make data-driven decisions.

Businesses using BigCommerce saw an average ROI of 189% over three years. This impressive figure highlights the platform’s potential to drive substantial growth and profitability.

The Importance of Working with a BigCommerce Costs Partner

By carefully evaluating the costs and benefits of each BigCommerce plan, businesses can make informed decisions that ensure maximum ROI. Consulting with a BigCommerce Partner like Nemetos Tanasuk can further enhance this process, providing expert guidance on leveraging the platform’s features to achieve strategic objectives.

Understanding how much BigCommerce costs involves evaluating the platform’s various pricing plans and the additional expenses that might be incurred. From the entry-level Standard Plan to the highly customised Enterprise Plan, BigCommerce offers solutions tailored to different business needs and growth stages.

For businesses seeking to maximise their investment in BigCommerce, engaging with a BigCommerce Partner like Nemetos Tanasuk is a strategic move.

Selecting the right ecommerce platform is pivotal for the success and scalability of your business. With the rapid evolution of online shopping, the choice between BigCommerce and Shopify represents more than just a technical selection; it’s a strategic decision that impacts every facet of your business operations.

BigCommerce vs Shopify

Choosing between BigCommerce vs Shopify is more than selecting an ecommerce platform, it’s about deciding on the foundation of your digital commerce strategy. Getting a better understanding of BigCommerce vs Shopify, equips businesses with critical insights into both platforms, for a better understanding of how each caters to different aspects of online business needs.

BigCommerce and Shopify each bring unique strengths to the table; BigCommerce is often celebrated for its robust scalability and depth of native enterprise features, while Shopify is praised for its intuitive user interface and vibrant app ecosystem. Interestingly, 37.5% of stores that switch to BigCommerce migrate from Shopify, suggesting a significant shift in preference when scalability becomes pivotal. As we delve deeper into the BigCommerce vs Shopify debate, this analysis will explore how each platform supports not just the launch but the exponential growth of online stores.

Putting The Two Leading Ecommerce Platforms Head To Head

Scalability is critical for supporting business growth without degrading user experience or backend functionality. A scalable ecommerce platform can handle increases in traffic, transactions, and product listings efficiently. According to a recent industry report, ecommerce platforms that do not scale appropriately could see up to a 10% decrease in sales for every second of delay caused by increased traffic.

Designed to handle large-scale enterprises, BigCommerce offers unlimited bandwidth and robust server capabilities, ensuring that businesses can grow without performance hitches. This platform is engineered to support high-volume businesses, smoothly managing increased demands without necessitating a plan upgrade.

Shopify is equipped to scale but generally requires additional apps or custom solutions as businesses grow, which can introduce extra costs and complexity. For high-traffic scenarios, users often have to upgrade to Shopify Plus, which is specifically tailored for high-volume merchants but comes at a higher cost.

Customisation and Integration

65% of businesses believe customisation capabilities are critical in choosing an ecommerce platform due to their unique process requirements. A platform’s ability to integrate seamlessly with existing systems and support extensive customisation is crucial for adapting ecommerce solutions to complex business operations.

BigCommerce’s open API and extensive documentation allow for deep customisation and seamless integration with various third-party applications and systems. This adaptability makes it particularly appealing for businesses with complex needs or those that require a high level of integration with existing software.

While Shopify offers a wide range of apps and has flexible integration options through API’s, achieving deep integration often involves additional development costs. The platform’s app-driven approach provides versatility but can also lead to dependency on external plugins for extended functionality.

Maintaining cost efficiency while scaling and enhancing an ecommerce platform is vital for business sustainability and growth. Businesses report an average increase of 30% in operational costs when scaling with platforms that charge transaction fees or require numerous add-ons.

Cost Efficiency

Maintaining cost efficiency while scaling and enhancing an ecommerce platform is vital for business sustainability and growth. Businesses report an average increase of 30% in operational costs when scaling with platforms that charge transaction fees or require numerous add-ons.

BigCommerce provides a clear advantage with its all-inclusive pricing model. No transaction fees and a lower total cost of ownership is beneficial to any businesses, especially those with high sales volumes.

At first glance Shopify’s initial lower cost can be appealing, but additional transaction fees (unless using Shopify Payments) and the potential need for numerous paid apps increase the total cost as businesses expand.

Security and Compliance

Ensuring the security of an ecommerce platform is essential for fostering customer trust and maintaining compliance with regulations. Research indicates that 40% of online shoppers abandon transactions if they perceive a site as insecure, which demonstrates the critical need for robust security measures in successful online operations.

BigCommerce offers advanced security features compliant with international standards like PCI DSS right out of the box. This commitment to security simplifies compliance for businesses and protects customer data effectively.

Shopify also ensures a secure shopping environment and meets necessary regulatory standards. However, reaching advanced security levels may require additional configurations or reliance on third-party solutions which can cost business valuable time and money.

Support and Resources

Maximising the potential of an ecommerce platform hinges on effective support and resources so users can get the most out of the platform with ease. A significant 75% of businesses prioritise excellent customer support when selecting an ecommerce platform, recognising its crucial role in navigating the complexities of online operations.

BigCommerce excels in customer support, providing enterprises with 24/7 access to a dedicated team of experts. This support is crucial for businesses that require immediate assistance to ensure continuous operation.

Shopify Plus also offers good support options, including dedicated account managers. However, the level of support can vary, and some businesses might need to seek external expertise for specific issues.

BigCommerce vs Shopify: How To Choose The Right Ecommerce Platform:

When deciding between BigCommerce vs Shopify, businesses should consider the platform’s capabilities as well as priceBigCommerce, with its robust scalability, advanced security, and extensive customisation options, emerges as the superior choice for businesses prioritising these aspects.

The travel industry is currently witnessing a substantial digital transformation, spurred by innovations in ecommerce platforms such as BigCommerce. In today’s digital age, a robust online presence is not merely beneficial but essential for survival and growth in the highly competitive travel sector. As of 2023, over 82% of travel bookings are made entirely online, reflecting a significant shift in consumer behaviour towards digital solutions.

BigCommerce, known for its comprehensive features such as scalability, advanced security measures, and extensive customisation options, emerges as an ideal choice for travel businesses aiming to capitalise on these trends.

BigCommerce Travel Sites

In the dynamic sphere of travel ecommerce, BigCommerce travel sites stand out as a particularly effective choice for crafting bespoke online experiences. Tailored for an industry that requires high flexibility and customisation, BigCommerce travel sites enable businesses to integrate seamlessly with existing systems, ensuring ecommerce ventures do not compromise on speed, security, or scalability.

BigCommerce’s creative strategy incorporates functions that are essential for travel websites, like a sophisticated checkout process that gives users the option to select their preferred method of payment, increasing accessibility to previously untapped customer segments. Built on an open and headless architecture, its modular design makes it simple to integrate with international airline booking engines, improving the customer experience through streamlined, effective service. The omnichannel capabilities of the platform guarantee a consistent and captivating customer experience throughout all touchpoints.

Travel websites can streamline international operations by using BigCommerce to manage various brands or geographical locations from a single interface. This, together with its enterprise-level performance and security capabilities that enable it to manage complex demands and large volumes, makes it a great option for extensive travel ecommerce operations.

With BigCommerce, travel businesses can free themselves to focus on what matters most: creating memorable journeys and seamless booking experiences that meet the high expectations of modern travellers. This focus on delivering uncompromised, customer-centric experiences makes BigCommerce a preferred platform for travel sites looking to thrive.

Optimising Digital Marketing for BigCommerce Travel Sites

Building on BigCommerce’s solid foundation and understanding its role in empowering travel businesses is crucial to build specific digital marketing strategies that can further enhance online visibility and customer engagement. Key BigCommerce features include:

Leveraging SEO for Greater Visibility

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is foundational in increasing the organic reach of your travel site. BigCommerce assists by supporting SEO-friendly URL structures, auto-generated sitemap options, and rich snippets, which are particularly beneficial for showcasing travel deals and packages.

Tips for Optimising SEO:

Keyword Optimisation: Conduct thorough keyword research to understand what potential travellers are searching for and tailor your content accordingly.

Local SEO: Enhance visibility in local search results by optimising for location-based keywords and listing your business in local directories.

Mobile Optimisation: Ensure your site is mobile-friendly. 52% of all online travel-related searches are now made on mobile devices, which highlights the need for mobile optimisation.

Content Marketing to Engage and Convert

Content is a pivotal element in attracting and engaging potential customers. BigCommerce’s blog platform can be used to create compelling content that informs, inspires, and persuades your audience.

Content Ideas:

Destination Guides: Offer in-depth guides about popular destinations, including tips on local attractions, dining, and accommodation.

Travel Itineraries: Share detailed itineraries that help travellers maximise their experience.

Customer Testimonials: Showcase stories and reviews from happy customers which can significantly boost trust and credibility.

Utilising Social Media to Boost Engagement

Social media platforms are invaluable for travel brands looking to expand their reach and engage with a broader audience as 4.80 billion people around the world now use social media. BigCommerce allows for seamless integration with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest, where visual content plays a pivotal role.

Social Media Strategies:

Visual Content: 82% of global internet traffic is driven by video content so sharing high-quality images and videos of destinations can increase your traffic and visibility.

Live Sessions: Host live Q&As, virtual tours of destinations, and interactive sessions with travel experts.

User-Generated Content: Encourage customers to share their travel experiences and photos using a branded hashtag.

Email Marketing for Personalised Communication

Email marketing remains one of the most effective channels for direct communication with customers. BigCommerce integrates with popular email marketing platforms, enabling you to send targeted and personalised emails based on user behaviour and preferences. Business had seen a 760% increase in earnings from segmented email marketing efforts, demonstrating the high return on investment this strategy can offer.

Email Campaign Ideas:

Promotional Offers: Send timely promotions and exclusive deals to encourage bookings.

Booking Reminders: Automate reminder emails for upcoming trips and last-minute travel checklist tips.

Loyalty Programs: Develop an email series that rewards frequent travellers with special offers or points.

PPC Advertising and Retargeting

Pay-per-click (PPC) and retargeting campaigns can direct immediate traffic to new offers, deals, or announcements. With 63% of people having clicked on a Google Ad, the effectiveness of these strategies is clear. BigCommerce’s integration with Google Ads and Facebook Ads simplifies the process of setting up and tracking these campaigns, making it easier to harness their potential for immediate results.

Effective PPC Techniques:

Targeted Ads for Destinations: Create ads tailored to specific destinations you offer, capturing the interest of those planning similar trips.

Retargeting Campaigns: Implement retargeting to re-engage users who visited your site but didn’t book, reminding them of what they’re missing. 97% of first-time visitors exit the website without making a purchase, so retargeting campaigns are crucial for converting these potential customers.

Elevating Travel Ecommerce with Strategic Digital Transformation

BigCommerce stands out as a cloud-based ecommerce platform that offers a robust set of tools designed to build, run, and scale online stores. Its versatility caters to a wide range of industries, including retail, manufacturing, and wholesale, making it a go-to solution for businesses looking to thrive in digital commerce.

BigCommerce is a top option for businesses of all sizes looking to improve the functionality of their online store. Given that over 60,000 businesses worldwide are presently powered by BigCommerce’s platform, it is evident that the software is a huge platform in the ecommerce industry, serving a wide range of operational and business needs.

BigCommerce has won multiple industry awards, which highlights its dedication to excellence in the ecommerce sector. Notably, Finances Online awarded it the Expert’s Choice Award, demonstrating its exceptional quality and capacity to provide reliable, effective solutions for the B2B and SaaS markets. BigCommerce’s ranking as one of the top ecommerce platforms by G2 Crowd emphasises how user-friendly and great its customer service is.

These prestigious awards highlight the platform’s ongoing efforts to establish the benchmark for ecommerce solutions and show why businesses seeking to succeed online continue to choose it with confidence.

BigCommerce Pricing

BigCommerce pricing offers a flexible model that caters to businesses of every size, ensuring functionality and scalability without unnecessary costs. The model is designed to help companies find the right plan within its structured tiers, from startups to large enterprises.

BigCommerce is known for its transparent pricing structure. The lack of transparency across the SaaS industry is part of why up to 90% of organisations might be overpaying for their software by an average of 26%.

It’s critical to assess which plan best fits your present and future business needs to ensure your organisation gets the most value out of your BigCommerce solution to prevent overspending. Consulting with ecommerce experts can yield strategic insights that will enable you to get a better understanding of how BigCommerce’s pricing works and which plan is best suited to your organisation.

Making an informed choice about your BigCommerce pricing plan ensures your organisation is only paying for those features that will be used in the expansion of your online store.

How much does BigCommerce cost?

Understanding BigCommerce’s pricing structure, which is intended to accommodate the various needs and sizes of ecommerce enterprises, is necessary to calculate the platform’s cost. With tiers of pricing that increase in features and capabilities, this platform can accommodate different phases of business growth and operational needs. BigCommerce pricing structures include:

Standard Plan: This entry-level option is ideal for emerging ecommerce ventures, priced at a point that facilitates initial market entry without overburdening new businesses with excessive costs.

Plus Plan: Aimed at businesses experiencing growth and needing more sophisticated tools for customer retention and segmentation, this plan represents a middle ground in terms of features and price.

Pro Plan: Designed for businesses that are scaling rapidly, it offers advanced features to support higher volume sales, improved security measures, and more comprehensive analytics at a higher price point.

Enterprise Plan: Tailored pricing is at the heart of this plan, designed for large-scale businesses with complex needs. The cost is determined based on a variety of factors including sales volume, the level of customisation required, and specific feature needs. This plan offers the highest level of support and functionality.

Potential extra expenses should be taken into account in addition to the base fees for these plans. These can include payment processing fees, fees for third-party apps and integrations, and possibly even custom development work for the Enterprise Plan or higher support tiers. These variables will determine the precise cost for every company, so it is critical for businesses to carefully weigh their needs against what each plan has to offer.

BigCommerce’s value and scalable nature make it appealing to businesses, especially those operating at the enterprise level. The investment in BigCommerce is viewed as a strategic move towards long-term ecommerce success rather than just a financial one due to its flexibility in accommodating expanding business requirements. Businesses are urged to take into account not only the initial cost but also the possible return on investment from employing BigCommerce’s extensive range of e commerce tools and services to increase revenue, improve customer satisfaction, and simplify processes.

BigCommerce Enterprise pricing

Large businesses are the target market for the BigCommerce Enterprise Plan, which offers customised pricing based on your company’s size and unique requirements. This plan includes a number of features that are essential for high-volume operations, such as limitless API calls for deep integration with external apps, sophisticated security protocols for superior data security and compliance, personalised search to improve product discovery and the shopping experience, and round-the-clock expert support to ensure your store runs smoothly.

BigCommerce pricing ensures you only invest in necessary features, with the option to adjust as your business evolves. For businesses utilising the Pro plan, it’s crucial to understand that moving to Enterprise is not automatic with sales increases, organisations should monitor their overall organisational performance and requirements before making a decision to invest in the next tier.

If your organisation is considering investing in the Enterprise Plan and want to know more about BigCommerce pricing, contacting a BigCommerce partner is the best way to evaluate how it could benefit your business for maximum return on investment (ROI). This strategic move ensures that you leverage BigCommerce’s comprehensive offerings to fuel your enterprise’s growth trajectory effectively.

Evaluating BigCommerce’s Pricing Models

When evaluating BigCommerce’s pricing, it’s crucial to consider the ROI. The cost of the platform should be weighed against the benefits it brings to your business, such as increased sales, improved customer satisfaction, and operational efficiencies.

BigCommerce offers a compelling solution for enterprises looking to excel in the ecommerce domain. Its flexible pricing model, coupled with a comprehensive suite of features, ensures businesses can tailor the platform to their specific needs. As enterprises navigate the complexities of the digital landscape, BigCommerce stands as a reliable partner, providing the tools and support necessary to achieve ecommerce success.

Making an informed decision about BigCommerce pricing involves a holistic understanding of your business’s unique needs and how the platform’s features can drive growth and profitability. By carefully evaluating the value proposition and potential ROI, enterprises can make the most of BigCommerce to not only meet but exceed their online retail objectives, setting a solid foundation for sustained digital transformation and success in the ever-evolving online world.

In the world of digital commerce, the quest for a seamless, engaging, and personalised customer experience is relentless, the increasing consumer demand for personalised experiences is highlighted by the fact that 71% of consumers expect companies to deliver personalised interactions, and 76% express frustration when this does not occur.

Ecommerce enterprises continually seek innovative solutions to stay ahead in a highly competitive market. That’s where Contentful ecommerce comes into the picture. It is a headless CMS that is redefining how businesses manage and deliver content across their online platforms. For ambitious commerce organisations, headless architecture like Contentful Ecommerce has the potential to transform growth and give savvy brands a competitive advantage.

What is Contentful Ecommerce?

While not a complete ecommerce platform itself, Contentful ecommerce acts as a powerful content management hub for ecommerce websites. It centralises content creation, allowing for richer product descriptions and experiences. It also integrates with various ecommerce tools for a flexible and scalable “best-of-breed” online store solution.

Contentful’s headless architecture offers unparalleled advantages for ecommerce platforms, addressing several key challenges faced by online retailers today. the Headless CMS usage is on the rise and the market is predicted to touch USD 3.8 billion in 2032. In addition to this, 74% of organisations recognise that failure to adopt emerging commerce solutions, such as a headless CMS will negatively impact areas of their business.

This signifies the growing recognition of headless CMS platforms as essential tools for delivering flexible, scalable, and personalised content experiences across multiple channels. By leveraging Contentful’s headless architecture, ecommerce platforms can navigate the complexities of digital retail with greater agility, ensuring they remain competitive.

Benefits Of Contentful:

Save Time With Unmatched Flexibility and Speed

Contentful ecommerce enables businesses to push content across lots of channels, including websites, mobile apps, and even IoT devices, without being tied to a single presentation framework. This flexibility ensures that ecommerce platforms can rapidly adapt to market trends and consumer expectations, delivering content that is always relevant, engaging, and tailored to the audience’s needs.

Enhanced User Experiences To Drive Conversions

The platform’s efficiency in managing content workflows accelerates the go-to-market for new products and promotions, ensuring that ecommerce businesses remain agile and responsive.

Contentful CMS

But what is Contentful CMS? It is a modern content management system, that distinguishes itself through its innovative headless architecture. Unlike traditional CMS platforms that intertwine content creation, management, and presentation, Contentful provides a more flexible and efficient approach. It serves as a central hub for storing and managing content, which can then be delivered across any digital channel through APIs.

This decoupling of the backend from the front end enables developers and marketers to work more collaboratively and efficiently, ensuring content is optimised and consistent across all touchpoints. Contentful’s platform is designed to accelerate the digital transformation of ecommerce businesses, empowering them to deploy content-driven strategies that enhance user engagement, improve customer experience, and drive sales.
Access The Potential of Your Ecommerce Platform

Adopting Contentful ecommerce as a headless CMS for ecommerce platforms requires a strategic approach to fully leverage its capabilities:

Strategise Your Content Architecture: Design a content model that aligns with your ecommerce strategy, ensuring that your product information, marketing content, and user interfaces are cohesively structured for easy management and delivery.

Integrate Seamlessly: Utilise Contentful’s extensive API and integration capabilities to connect with your ecommerce platform, analytics tools, and CRM systems, creating a unified technology ecosystem that enhances operational efficiency and data insights.

Personalise Customer Interactions: Leverage the agility of Contentful ecommerce to deliver personalised content and product recommendations based on user behavior and preferences, enriching the customer experience and boosting sales.

Optimise for Performance: Ensure that your content delivery is optimised for speed and responsiveness across all devices, a critical factor in retaining customer engagement and improving SEO rankings.

By following these strategic steps, businesses can unlock the full potential of Contentful ecommerce, paving the way for a more dynamic, efficient, and customer-centric online shopping experience.

Selecting the right Contentful Agency

Making the move to a headless CMS like Contentful ecommerce is a critical step for ecommerce businesses aiming to enhance their online presence and boost sales.
The right ecommerce platform for your business is more crucial than ever. Among the long list of options available, one name that consistently emerges at the forefront is BigCommerce. But, what is BigCommerce, and why is it the platform of choice for tens of thousands of businesses worldwide?

What is BigCommerce?

BigCommerce is a leading open SaaS ecommerce platform, serving businesses ranging from ambitious startups to established global brands. Since its launch in 2009, BigCommerce has consistently pushed the boundaries of ecommerce technology, and today powers tens of thousands of B2C and B2B merchants across 150 countries. In 2025, BigCommerce’s parent organisation rebranded as Commerce — a family of products that brings together BigCommerce, Feedonomics (data feed management), and Makeswift (visual page building) — which is why you’ll now see the platform described as “BigCommerce, powered by Commerce”.

BigCommerce’s architecture is optimised for high performance and scalability. It enables businesses to easily manage and scale their online presence without the complexities and technical overhead commonly associated with online store management. This ease of use does not come at the expense of power or flexibility: BigCommerce offers a robust feature set that allows merchants to extensively customise their stores to match their brand and meet their customers’ needs — whether they build on native storefronts or go fully headless.

Why Choose BigCommerce?

1. Scalability and Flexibility:

BigCommerce stands out for its scalability, supporting businesses as they evolve from small startups to international enterprises. Its open SaaS approach — combining the reliability of a hosted platform with the openness of extensive APIs — allows for custom solutions that grow with your business, ensuring your ecommerce platform is never a limitation to your expansion. Multi-storefront, multi-language, and multi-currency capabilities make international growth part of the platform rather than a bolt-on.

2. All-in-One Solution:

From advanced SEO tools to integrated payments — including native BigCommerce Payments — the platform offers a comprehensive all-in-one solution. Merchants can leverage out-of-the-box features and an extensive app marketplace to extend functionality without heavy custom development, and B2B Edition adds quoting, purchase-order automation, price lists, and corporate account management for wholesale operations.

3. Unmatched Performance and Reliability:

BigCommerce boasts an average uptime of 99.99%, ensuring that your store is always open for business. This reliability is crucial for maintaining customer trust and maximising sales opportunities.

BigCommerce is also a consistent leader in B2B ecommerce: in the 2026 Paradigm B2B Combine, BigCommerce B2B Edition earned a perfect 24 out of 24 medals across the midmarket and enterprise editions — for the fourth consecutive year. That sustained recognition, alongside a customer base spanning retail sectors from home and garden to apparel and automotive, demonstrates the platform’s flexibility and appeal to a wide range of ecommerce ventures.

BigCommerce distinguishes itself in the crowded ecommerce space by providing a suite of features designed to meet the complex requirements of today’s online retailers. Its platform combines simplicity with robust functionality, allowing businesses to launch, manage, and scale their online stores efficiently. Some of the key BigCommerce features that make it a popular choice for ambitious brands include:

BigCommerce Customisable Storefronts: BigCommerce’s themes are designed with conversion optimisation in mind, ensuring your online store is not just visually appealing but built to convert visitors into customers. With Makeswift, part of the Commerce family, marketers also get a modern visual page builder — so brands can tailor their site’s look and feel to match their identity without extensive coding knowledge.

BigCommerce Omni-Channel Selling: BigCommerce provides merchants with a unified platform to manage sales across social platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, and marketplaces like eBay and Amazon — with Feedonomics optimising and syndicating product data to every channel. Increasingly that includes AI channels too: BigCommerce is making product catalogues agent-ready, so items can be discovered and purchased through AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, and Perplexity.

BigCommerce Advanced SEO Capabilities: BigCommerce SEO tools are intended to help your store rank higher in search engine results, increasing visibility and driving organic traffic. BigCommerce provides customisable URLs, automatic sitemap generation, and rich snippets to improve your site’s search visibility, while its CDN ensures your site loads quickly around the world — important for both rankings and user experience.

BigCommerce Headless Commerce Solutions: BigCommerce’s support for headless commerce enables businesses to separate the frontend presentation layer from the backend ecommerce engine. Catalyst, BigCommerce’s Next.js-based storefront framework, gives development teams a fast, composable foundation for building bespoke customer experiences — while ecommerce operations stay managed from BigCommerce’s unified backend. Headless is ideal for brands that want distinctive customer experiences without platform constraints.

Robust Security and Compliance: With BigCommerce, security is paramount. The platform offers enterprise-grade security features, including automatic updates and patches, SSL certificates for secure transactions, and compliance with industry standards such as PCI DSS. This comprehensive approach protects merchants and their customers from data breaches and cyber threats, instilling confidence in your online store.

AI-Powered Commerce: AI now runs through the platform — from BigCommerce Companion, an AI assistant that helps merchants manage and optimise their stores, to AI-driven purchase-order automation in B2B Edition and conversational, agent-ready shopping experiences on the storefront side.

BigCommerce Pricing

BigCommerce pricing is designed to meet a wide range of business needs, enabling growth from startup to enterprise level. The current plans are Core (for new businesses), Growth (for established businesses scaling towards six-figure sales), and Scale (for fast-growing brands), with the Performance tier and custom enterprise agreements serving high-volume operations with complex requirements. A fully functional 15-day free trial is available, with no card details required. This tiered approach ensures businesses only pay for the features they require at each stage, with the option to upgrade as their online presence grows — we’ve broken down the detail in our guide to BigCommerce pricing.

Work with a BigCommerce Agency

The average ecommerce conversion rate is between 2.5% to 3%. Conversions can change depending on the organisation or conversion actions, such as subscribing to a newsletter, adding products to a cart, or filling out a contact form. Conversion rate Optimisation (CRO) requires more than just a sleek website and quality products. It demands strategic planning, continual optimisation, and a deep understanding of consumer behaviour.

How To Calculate Ecommerce Conversion rates in 5 steps

1. Define The Conversion Event:

Determine what constitutes a conversion on your ecommerce platform. It could be a purchase, signing up for a newsletter, downloading a resource, whatever fits the goals of your organisation.

2. Gather Data:

For this you will need to gather two different types of data:

Number of Visitors: The total number of unique visitors to your ecommerce website during a specific period.

Number of Conversions: The total number of visitors who completed the desired action (e.g., made a purchase) during the same period.

3. Calculate Conversion Rate:

Conversion Rate = (Number of Conversions / Number of Visitors) * 100%

For example, if your ecommerce website had 1,000 visitors and 50 of them made a purchase, the conversion rate would be:

Conversion Rate = (50 / 1000) * 100% = 5%

4. Interpretation:

The conversion rate represents the percentage of visitors who took the desired action (conversion) out of the total number of visitors.

5. Track and Analyse:

Continuously monitor your conversion rate over time to identify trends, understand the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, website changes, or other factors influencing conversions. Organisations can then analyse the data to make informed decisions about optimising your ecommerce site for better conversion rates.

Organisations can also calculate conversion rates for specific segments of their audience, such as by traffic source (organic search, paid search, social media), device type (desktop, mobile), geographic location and more. This segmentation can provide valuable insights into which channels or demographics are most effective at driving conversions.

12 Ways To Improve Ecommerce Conversion Rates

1. Personalisation

Tailor website content and marketing messages to resonate with each customer. 80% of people admit they are more likely to do business with an organisation that delivers tailored content. Using software such as the Optimizely personalisation features makes it easy to create a website that aligns with customers preferences helping to create an emotional connection and brand loyalty.

2. Optimise For Mobile

Ensure your site is responsive and user-friendly on mobile devices. With 92.3% of internet users accessing websites through their mobile phones, seamless mobile experiences are vital for encouraging conversions.

3. Smooth Search and Navigation

Simplifying the purchasing process is key to reducing friction and enhancing user satisfaction. This involves minimising form fields, providing guest checkout options, and ensuring clear calls-to-action throughout the website. As 46% of users won’t revisit poorly performing websites, having a website that is easy to navigate is essential for improving ecommerce conversion rates.

4. Leverage Social Proof

Displaying customer reviews, ratings, and testimonials serves as powerful social proof, fostering trust and credibility among potential buyers. Integrating social proof elements into your website can significantly influence purchasing decisions, ultimately driving conversions and bolstering brand reputation.

5. Abandoned Cart / Cart Recovery

Implementing personalised abandoned cart emails has proven to be an effective strategy, with a notable 60% of shoppers returning to complete their purchase after receiving such notifications. Leveraging this tactic can help organisations recapture potentially lost sales opportunities and nurture customer relationship

6. Enhance Product Descriptions and Images

Providing comprehensive and compelling product information, coupled with high-quality images and videos, is essential for facilitating informed purchase decisions. By enriching product descriptions and visuals, organisations can effectively showcase their offerings and inspire confidence in potential buyers.

7. Optimise Site Speed

Addressing issues related to slow-loading pages is crucial for mitigating user frustration and minimising cart abandonment rates. The likelihood of a bounce increases by 32% when page load time exceeds 3 seconds, underscoring the importance of regularly monitoring and improving website loading speed.

8. Track Behaviour With Analytics

Leveraging analytics tools allows organisations to gain valuable insights into user behaviour, preferences, and interactions with the website. By tracking and analysing this data, organisations can make informed decisions and optimise their strategies to better align with customer expectations and objectives.

9. Segment Your Audience

Customising marketing campaigns based on user behaviour, preferences, and demographics enables businesses to deliver targeted messaging that resonates with specific audience segments. This is easy to do when using platforms such as the Optimizely Data Platform, which is built to unify customer data. This personalised approach enhances the relevance and effectiveness of marketing efforts, ultimately driving higher conversion rates and maximising ROI.

10. Safety and security

Assuring customers of the safety and security of their information is key for instilling trust and confidence in the online shopping experience. Clearly communicating your commitment to protecting customer data can help alleviate concerns and encourage conversions.

11. Customer Service Focus

Providing real-time assistance to address customer queries and concerns can significantly impact purchase decisions and reduce cart abandonment rates. Research shows that 75% of customers have made purchase decisions based on the quality of customer service, highlighting the importance of prioritising customer support initiatives.

12. A/B Test Continuously

Conducting regular A/B testing with technology such as Optimizely Experiments allows organisations to experiment with different elements of their website, such as headlines, CTAs, colours, and layouts, to identify what resonates best with their audience. With 75% of organisations experiencing increased digital revenue through A/B testing and other experimentation tools, adopting a continuous testing mindset can lead to significant improvements in conversion rates and overall performance.

Aiming for a good ecommerce conversion rate typically falls between 2% to 3%, while anything surpassing 3% is considered excellent, reflecting the effectiveness of implemented strategies.

Improving Conversion Rates Results:

The following examples demonstrate the effectiveness of targeted strategies in achieving significant improvements in conversion metrics.

A/B Testing Success:

Ace & Tate, a prominent eyewear brand, demonstrated the impact of strategic A/B testing on click-through rates (CTR), with an impressive 87% increase observed on their main navigation page. By optimising engagement with top-level categories and underlying content, Ace & Tate effectively leveraged experimentation to enhance user experience and drive conversions.

Segmentation Success:

Similarly, Pets Deli, a leading player in the European pet food market, experienced a 51% surge in online conversion rates during Black Friday compared to the previous year. They used a segmented approach tailored to distinct customer profiles, and tailored prices and promotions to meet specific needs, resulting in heightened conversion rates and decreased bounce rates by 10%.

Personalisation Results:

Moreover, Michaels, a retailer specialising in arts and crafts, achieved gains in ecommerce conversion rates through personalised communication channels. By incorporating personalised language into SMS campaigns, Michaels achieved a substantial 41% increase in conversion rates and a 25% conversion increase for email campaigns. This emphasis on customisation and relevance underscores the potency of targeted messaging in driving consumer action and fostering lasting engagement.

These success stories demonstrate the importance of strategic optimisation and personalised engagement in improving ecommerce performance. By prioritising user experience, tailoring promotions to individual preferences, and leveraging data-driven insights, organisations can unlock significant opportunities for growth and profitability in the digital marketplace.

Building A Bespoke Conversion Rate Optimisation Strategy:

To effectively build a plan to help with improving ecommerce conversion rates it’s a good idea to work with a specialised agency. Whether you’re enhancing customer experiences or making operations smoother, the benefits are huge, no matter your industry and Optimizely is a leading platform for creating exceptional digital experiences.
