Our VP of Experience Marketing, James Gray, has over 20 years of experience in the industry. He joined Remarkable in 2022, and now leads a team of digital marketing and performance experts in creating seamless, omni-channel experiences that connect, convert, and inspire loyalty. With a passion for turning disconnected, multi-channel marketing activities into genuine omni-channel strategies for our clients and experiences that delight customers, James’ understanding of the interconnectivity between channels & content, coupled with the ability to leverage tools, platforms, integrations, APIs and more to achieve seamless journeys becomes valuable from the very beginning of our project discoveries, right through to the marketing execution that drives user acquisition.
A bit of a self-confessed data-nerd, he is passionate about ensuring all digital touch-points are trackable to capture the maximum amount of data possible, enabling better decision making, and enabling our clients to report on their success.
James is an academically and classically trained marketer, and his career has spanned both agency-side and in-house. Having worked for Cox Automotive, Sagittarius, Wonderful, GForces (ATG/Keyloop) and Virgin, James has built a reputation for fusing creativity and technology in the development of marketing strategy. He has partnered with many B2B and B2C businesses to devise cutting-edge online marketing strategies, working with both globally recognised brands and more niche clients to help them navigate the challenges of digital transformation and deliver marketing excellence.
An early adopter of most tech & digital platforms (certainly anything that could be leveraged for marketing), he was experimenting in web design and development in the mid-late 1990s, before embracing other channels like email & MySpace, and was one of the first students to hop aboard social media as it really took off with the introduction of Facebook (or The Facebook as it was back then) in the early-mid 2000s. This early adoption has never stopped, grabbing access to other social networks, CRMs, SaaS platforms and more, as soon as they became available.
In more recent times, James has taken full advantage of the early and beta access lists to the explosion in Generative AI platforms, culminating in being one of the first to try and distil down learnings into his 2023 eBook “The Ultimate Guide to Generative AI for Marketers“.
James’s constant desire to stay on top of innovative trends in the digital and MarTech (Marketing Technology) space fuels his passion for driving digital marketing success for his clients. James regularly shares his insights into this field in his Daily Dose of Digital newsletter on LinkedIn, as well as here on the Remarkable blog. His leadership strategy revolves around crafting strategic, data-driven solutions across social media, email, content, and advertising platforms to deliver exceptional results for clients.
It is evident from his own personal content that he is also a lover of content strategy, and believes getting the right content in front of the right user at the right time, in the right ‘moment that matters’ is vital in nurturing strangers into friends, and friends into customers (lovers of your brand). By analysing a client’s current content and channel strategy and uncovering new opportunities, he (and the wider Experience Marketing team) develops fresh, engaging strategies that drive customer acquisition and brand affinity.

His team deals with everything from increasing brand visibility to implementing innovative AI-driven solutions; by keeping ahead of industry trends, James makes sure his team is harnessing the latest tools and insights to deliver success for clients.
