What is the Cyber Essentials Certificate?

Cyber Essentials is a government-backed certification program developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) in the United Kingdom. It aims to help organisations implement fundamental cyber security measures effectively.

We’re delighted to be awarded our new Cyber Essentials certification, acknowledging our commitment to combat evolving cyber threats. We understand that safeguarding data remains crucial in our digital world. This certification demonstrates our dedication to best practices, strengthening defences against cyber threats.

Earning this certificate improves our ability to secure clients’ data, implementing rigorous security measures aligned with Cyber Essentials. We’ve enhanced defences against common risks like malware, phishing, and unauthorised access through robust practices and team training.

“I’m delighted that Ultimedia‘s security efforts have been recognised in achieving the Cyber Essentials Certification. Defending against the ever evolving cyber security landscape is an on-going task, with real-world revenue and reputational consequences.’ explained Matthew Dunn, CTO at Ultimedia. ‘This award demonstrates our team’s serious commitment to the protection of our client’s intellectual property and digital infrastructure.”

As a top digital agency, client security is paramount. With the Cyber Essentials certification, clients gain reassurance of our dedication to safeguarding their data from cyber threats. We prioritise cybersecurity and uphold our high standard, ensuring clients’ peace of mind.

Marie Heinsen, Head of Agency Services at Remarkable Group added,

“As our projects span the globe and multiple sectors, all clients have unique compliance requirements. The Cyber Essentials certification makes sure we meet those requirements and continue to serve clients with diverse security needs. The certificate is just one piece of the puzzle towards actively contributing to the broader efforts of creating a safer digital environment.”

But our cyber security dedication doesn’t stop now that we have this certificate. It represents our ongoing commitment to maintaining a high level of security. We continuously monitor the evolving threat landscape, update our security measures, and adapt to emerging risks, ensuring that both our clients’ and our own data remains secure.

5 Tips To Keep Your Organisation Cyber Secure

1. Prioritise Regular Audits:

Schedule routine security audits, including penetration testing, to proactively identify and address vulnerabilities in your systems. These audits should involve your software, hardware and your network infrastructure and data storage practices. By regularly assessing your security posture, you can stay ahead of potential threats and minimise the risk of breaches.

2. Implement Robust Data Protection Measures:

Safeguard sensitive information by implementing robust data protection measures. This includes encrypting data at rest and in transit, utilising access controls to restrict unauthorised access, and employing data loss prevention (DLP) technologies to prevent data leaks. Additionally, ensure that your data retention policies are aligned with compliance requirements and industry best practices.

3. Secure Communication Channels:

Maintain secure communication channels to protect sensitive information exchanged with clients, partners, and employees. Implement SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) and HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) encryption protocols for all communication channels. These protocols ensure that data remains confidential and protected from eavesdropping and ‘man in the middle’ attacks.

4. Enhance Employee Cybersecurity Awareness:

Educate your employees about cybersecurity threats and best practices. Conduct regular cybersecurity training sessions to equip them with the knowledge and skills to identify and avoid phishing attacks, create strong passwords, and handle sensitive data securely. Encourage a culture of open communication where employees feel comfortable reporting suspicious activities.

5. Employ Reputable Cybersecurity Solutions:

Invest in reputable cybersecurity solutions to protect your systems and data. This includes antivirus and anti-malware software, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and endpoint security solutions. Regularly update these solutions to ensure they remain effective against evolving threats.
